59-year-old Swansea motorcycle rider sent to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter after crash with van in southern Massachusetts
A Swansea motorcycle rider was seriously injured recently in a crash in southeastern Massachusetts.
According to scanner transmissions, at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, a call came into dispatch for a motorcyclist that was hit by a van in the area of 136 Wood Street in Middleborough, in front of Saint Mary’s cemetery.
The motorcycle rider was reportedly suffering from severe bleeding from one of his legs and personnel applied a torniquet upon arrival.
The victim was transported by medical helicopter at a field behind Memorial Early Childhood Center in Middleborough to Rhode Island Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Boston Globe stated that the victim was a 59-year-old man. The other party, an 88-year-old Lakeville man, was driving a Dodge Carvan when he pulled out of the cemetery onto Wood Street and hit the motorcycle.
