53-year-old Massachusetts motorcycle rider killed in crash on Route 95
A Massachusetts motorcycle rider has been killed in a serious crash.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 6:15 p.m. tonight, Troopers assigned to State Police-Newbury responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 95 southbound South of Central Street (Exit 81) in Newbury. Members of Newbury Fire and EMS responded as well.
Upon their arrival, Troopers observed the operator of the motorcycle, identified as a 53-year-old man from Peabody, to be suffering from serious injuries and began life-saving efforts. He succumbed to his injuries while at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the operator was the sole occupant on the motorcycle.
The exact cause and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. Lane closures were in place for approximately two hours to facilitate crash investigation and cleanup.
