51-year-old man dies from injuries sustained after alleged attack by 4 juveniles in Providence

A local man that was allegedly attacked by several juveniles this week in Providence has died from his injuries.

According to family and a GoFundMe fundraiser, 51-year-old Rony Alonzo “suffered a severe brain injury that led to a brain bleed. Despite the efforts made, his injuries were too great, and he sadly passed after being declared brain dead.”

WJAR 10 is reporting that 4 juveniles, three 12-year-olds and one 11-year-old, were charged Monday with felony assault and conspiracy, however, charges are now likely to be upgraded due to the victim’s death.

Family members are hoping to bring Alonzo’s body back to his native Guatemala.

He is being remembered as an amazing person who was loving and caring.
