51-year-old Attleboro man accused of stabbing his 47-year-old brother to death
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Attleboro Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred early this morning in that city.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, police were called to the area between 5 and 6 Melissa Drive around 3:25 a.m. for a reported disturbance in progress. When police arrived, they located the victim outside of 5 Melissa Drive suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, Richard McCormick, 47, of North Attleboro, was rushed to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 4:06 a.m.
The victim’s brother, James McCormick, 51, of Attleboro, was arrested for the stabbing and is being held in custody at this time on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault and Battery.
The defendant will be held overnight and arraigned in Attleboro District Court tomorrow morning.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
