5-year-old Massachusetts boy struck and killed by school bus remembered as happy, smart, intelligent, someone who brought joy

Lens Arthur Joseph, a 5-year-old kindergartener from Hyde Park, Boston who was tragically killed Monday, after being struck by a school bus is being remembered.
Lens was a student at Up Academy in Dorchester and was on his way home when the incident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. near 107 Washington Street, close to the intersection with Glenwood Avenue.
According to his family, Lens was dropped off at a different spot than normal on Washington Street. This forced him to cross the street, and he was hit by the bus while doing so.
The bus driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
No charges have been filed as of yet.
Lens is being remembered as a happy, smart, and intelligent boy who brought joy to everyone.
Boston City Councilor Enrique Pepen and residents are now advocating for safety improvements on Washington Street to prevent future tragedies, noting concerns about speeding in the area.
Family members have stated that the family is asking for privacy and will not be holding public gatherings at this time and is asking the public’s help to stop any unapproved content in Len’s name or likeness. They have told us, however, that they have created a GoFundMe fundraiser for funeral expenses.
