5 from Fall River, New Bedford area graduate from prestigious nursing school with help from BayCoast Bank scholarships
SWANSEA, BROCKTON, MA – Five local nursing students who received surprise scholarships from BayCoast Bank have each earned an exciting new title – graduate!
Ashley Del Rio, Raylyn Gant, Marissa Burgos, Selena Boleates, and Janae Medeiros, who are all from the Fall River-New Bedford area, are now proud graduates of Signature Healthcare’s Brockton Hospital School of Nursing in Brockton, MA. They received their diplomas at a ceremony in June.
BayCoast Bank offered generous education awards to a total of seven SH/BHSON students when it was learned they faced unique challenges in the pursuit of their diplomas. Two of the scholarship recipients are in the process of completing their degrees. The recent graduates say they are thrilled to take the next step in their careers and offered their heartfelt gratitude to BayCoast Bank.
“I want to thank (BayCoast Bank) for making it possible for me to finish this program,” said Raylyn Gant. “I am truly so grateful for the support you have given me.”
“I want to thank you for this amazing gift,” added Ashley Del Rio. “I appreciate that (BayCoast) has so generously invested in me, my education and my future.”
“The scholarship money has been life-changing for me,” noted Selena Boleates. “I am tremendously grateful.”
The Brockton Hospital School of Nursing graduates say they hope to find employment right here on the South Coast, so they can provide vital healthcare services to members of their communities.
“Being a nurse has always been my dream,” said Marissa Burgos. “I want to express my sincerest gratitude to BayCoast Bank for making my education possible. I do hope that one day I can help other students achieve their dreams just as you have helped me.”
“Our BayCoast family would like to congratulate these very deserving nursing graduates,” said Nicholas M. Christ, President and CEO of BayCoast Bank. “There are very few professions in life that are more noble. We have been honored to assist you and wish you the best of luck in the pursuit of your careers in healthcare.”
Brockton Hospital School of Nursing is an integral part of Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Originally established in 1897, the school has graduated over 2,700 nurses, mainly from southeastern Massachusetts. It is the only two-year RN Diploma school that still exists on a hospital campus anywhere in New England.
