46-year-old New Bedford man charged in stabbing where victim was transported with life threatening injuries
A local man is facing several charges after a stabbing in Massachusetts.
According to police, at just after 2:45 p.m., on Friday, officers assigned to District D-4 (Boston South End) arrested 46-year-old Nathaniel Almeida of New Bedford after a stabbing incident.
Officers responded to the area of 474 Massachusetts Avenue for a report of a person stabbed. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect and his direction of flight.
Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers immediately began to render medical aid and requested Boston EMS to respond to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim is now expected to survive his injuries.
Officers began to canvass the area for the suspect and observed a male matching the description in the area of Gage Street and Northampton Street. Officers observed that the suspect had a laceration on his arm and was transported to the hospital.
Almeida was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery, Threat to Commit a Crime, and Intimidation of a Witness.
He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
