A 46-year-old Fall River man was sentenced Friday in Fall River after a jury trial in the New Bedford Superior Court.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, a jury convicted Daniel Arruda, aka Danny Arruda, of three counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child under the Age of 14, three counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child over the age of 14 and Aggravated Rape of a Child (five-year age difference).

According to court records, in Fall River Superior Court, Arruda was sentenced to not less than 20 to not more than 30 years in prison with 36 days credit for time served.

Arruda was convicted of sexually assaulting his three daughters in Fall River on various dates between 2013 and 2021 when the children were between the ages of 12 and 16.  Arruda committed the sexual assaults and rape during child visitations as the children did not live with him after he and the children’s mother previously divorced.  In May of 2021, the youngest victim disclosed about the abuse she had endured which led to charges issuing against Arruda for all three victims.

The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Karen O’Sullivan and Assistant District Attorney Victoria Bendza.
