45-year-old Westport man suffers “significant” and “potentially life-threatening” injuries in highway crash

A local man was seriously injured in a crash on Saturday night.

According to the Lakeville Fire Department, Lakeville Firefighters were dispatched to the north side of Route 140, just north of County Street at approximately 10:00 p.m.

At the time of the crash, Ambulance 3 was committed to the treatment and transport of a resident having a medical emergency. A recall was transmitted, and off duty members came back to work.

Ambulance 1, Engine 1, Car 2, and Car 1 responded to the highway. Arriving firefighters found an adult male trapped in a vehicle. The car had left the road, collided with a sign and a tree, then came to rest on its roof.

Responders used hydraulic tools (jaws of life) to free the trapped man.

A medical helicopter was requested due to the condition of the trapped occupant but was soon cancelled due to a 40-minute flight time and the good progress of the extrication.

The patient was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by Lakeville Ambulance.

According to Nemasket Week, the victim, a 45-year-old Westport man, suffered “significant” and “potentially life-threatening” injuries.
