Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 44-year-old man pled guilty and was sentenced before the Honorable Rene Dupuis in the Fall River Superior Court.

Jordan Caetano of New Bedford was sentenced to serve 8 to 10 years in State Prison for a shooting and related enhanced firearms charges stemming from an incident in October 2024.

On October 27, 2024, Caetano was at the Redwood Lounge located at 1566 Cove Road in New Bedford. Video surveillance captures him arriving at the lounge in his silver Chevy pickup, parked in front of the bar and captures him entering.  Later in the evening, Caetano is captured on video sitting in his truck when he is approached by a male who appears to be in an excited state.  This excited male then appears to engage with a group of men who appear ready to fight.  The initial excited male pulls out, what was later determined to be mace, and sprays two of the men as he runs up the street.  The group of males chased the initial male who approached Caetano’s truck, the defendant then exits his truck, extends his arm and shoots.  A gunshot can be heard on the surveillance video, followed by a second shot and then a third.  Caetano is then seen running back to his truck and fleeing at a high rate of speed.  The defendant’s path is caught on several cameras consistent with travel to the home of his mother.

During the police investigation, bar patrons and other individuals present refused to speak to police.  Police did recover in the area of the shooting, three 9mm casings and two live rounds.

Caetano was located by police several days later and was stopped for driving on a suspended license in the same truck.  On November 4, 2024, police arrested him and seized his truck.  Police also searched his bedroom at his mother’s home on Spooner Street and located a firearm, a magazine, and ammunition.  Caetano had no FID card or license to carry.  The Massachusetts state Police ballistics lab tested the casing and firearm and determined the gun seized from the defendant’s bedroom to be a match to the one used in the shooting. No individuals were struck during the shooting.

According to New Bedford Police, Caetano is a repeat offender with 84 prior adult arraignments.

“This is a serious act of street violence committed by the defendant. Fortunately, nobody was shot. Without video evidence this case would not have been solved because of the lack of cooperation of witnesses.  The defendant has a history of violence and clearly is a danger to the community. I would like to thank the New Bedford detectives for their investigative efforts in this case,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shawn Guilderson.
