44-year-old man killed in Plymouth County crash that seriously injured 8-year-old, killed dog, remembered as great person on and off the field
BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and Abington Police are continuing to investigate a fatal single car crash that left the operator dead and seriously injured a female, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.
At just before 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Abington Police received several 911 calls for reports of a single motor vehicle crash in the area of 700 Richard A. Fitts Drive.
Upon arrival, Abington Police and Fire encountered an 8 year-old who had been removed from the vehicle and was being tended to by good samaritans on scene. She was transported to South Shore Hospital, before being medflighted to Children’s Hospital in Boston where she remains for treatment.
The male operator of the motor vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. He has been identified as 44-year-old Christopher Berard-Bulman of Dedham.
A dog also died in the crash.
Bulman played for the semi-pro football team New England Bombers and had also owned Big Truss Construction. He was being remembered by those who knew him as a great person both on and off the field.
The investigation is ongoing by Massachusetts State Police, MSP Collision, Analysis, and Reconstruction Section, and Abington Police. Preliminarily, it appears that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
