43-year-old Massachusetts mother of two killed in fiery highway crash remembered for faith, kindness; online fundraiser created
A Massachusetts woman who died after a fiery multi-vehicle highway crash this week is being remembered. A fundraiser has also been created.
According to the Northborough Fire Department, at just before 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the Northborough Public Safety Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a serious head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver. on Interstate 290 eastbound prior to Exit 27.
Engine 1 arrived to find two passenger vehicles, later identified as a Subaru and a Jeep, with severe front-end damage. One vehicle was resting on its side, and both vehicles were fully involved in fire. Several Northborough Police Officers and Massachusetts State Police Troopers were already on scene attempting to extinguish the flames.
The driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles escaped prior to the arrival of emergency personnel and was transported by NFD ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Despite the valiant efforts of police officers and firefighters, the driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle could not be rescued. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to an obituary, 43-year-old Sheena Ann GrandPre’ “will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious sense of humor, generous heart, and kind soul. She had a unique ability to make others laugh and to offer kindness and compassion to those around her. Sheena met each day with courage and unwavering faith. She was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ, and it was through her faith that she found strength, hope, and peace.”
Private services will be held at a later date.

The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
