39-year-old Rhode Island man killed in bicycle collision was engaged, remembered as driven

The victim has been identified concerning a fatal collision in Rhode Island late Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, at just before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, the Coventry Police Department responded to Hill Street for a motor vehicle accident involving an adult bicyclist.

Coventry Rescue personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the cyclist deceased.

The vehicle operator and witnesses remained on scene and are cooperating with police.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old, Jason Marietti of West Warwick, RI.

According to an obituary, Marietti was a driven individual who was always an athlete and worked as an electrician while also having a bachelor’s degree in science at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Family and friends are invited to Jason’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph’s Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick.  

The Coventry Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team and BCI are investigating the accident.
