A 37-year-old Fall River man convicted by a jury of his peers last week of child rape and molestation was sentenced to state prison, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

Bryant Rivera was convicted of six counts of aggravated statutory rape and seven counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14.  The conviction came after a multiple day jury trial held before Judge Thomas McGuire. He was sentenced to serve 20 to 30 years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Caleb Weiner and Cana Yesilcimen.

Rivera was accused of raping his stepdaughter on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2017 and then molesting another close female relative in 2020 and 2021.

“The defendant, because of his access, repeatedly molested and raped his one young victim and then molested another. These perverted acts of violence will have a grave impact on these victims for the rest of their lives. I commend them for their courage in coming forward and persevering through this process. I hope the lengthy sentence will give them some closure for these traumatic events in their lives and allow them to move forward,” District Attorney Quinn said.
