35-year-old mother, 13-year-old son identified in fatal crash on Interstate 195 in New Bedford
Police continue to investigate a fatal highway crash that took place Friday morning.
According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Troopers from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 195 East in the City of New Bedford near exit 24A.
Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle carrying 5 individuals rolled over. 2 of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of their injuries and 3 others were transported to a local hospital.
Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office stated that the deceased are Gladys Ivelisse Colon Kuilan, 35, of New Bedford and her 13-year-old son, Willniel Osorio-Colon, also of New Bedford.
According to family, among the three injured are children of Kuilan and a friend of one of the children.
The victim’s sister told Fall River Reporter that her sister loved her children, and this has been painful for the family.
The family is looking to raise money for the two funerals through this GoFundMe fundraiser.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bristol County Detective Unit as well as the State Police’s Crime Scene Services Section and Collison Accident Reconstruction Services.
