35-year-old man charged in Fairhaven moped crash that killed 29-year-old Alexis Alvarez of Brockton
A 35-year-old Fairhaven man will be arraigned in New Bedford District Court this morning in connection to the fatal hit-and-run incident which occurred in Fairhaven Saturday night.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Ryan Almeida will be arraigned on charges of Leaving the Scene-Death Resulting and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon-Substantial Injury.
Police were initially called to Main Street, near the Riverside Cemetery Saturday night for reports of a crash involving a pickup truck and a moped. The moped driver, later identified as Alexis Alvarez, 29, of Brockton, was rushed to Saint Luke’s Hospital and later pronounced deceased.
Today’s arraignment will be handled by Assistant District Attorney Russ Eonas.
