A man is facing charges after an incident that took place in Fall River.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, on Tuesday, at just after 10:45 p.m., officers responded to an address on Lawton Street in response to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old Yukeny Fletcher, who was bleeding from his arm after an apparent argument. Fletcher refused to allow officers and EMS to assess his injuries. He began to threaten officers and eventually began throwing items at the officers as they attempted to deescalate the situation. One of the officers was allegedly struck in the arm when Fletcher threw a rug and a mop at him.

Officers later discovered that Fletcher had been involved in an argument earlier in the evening at another location. During that incident he reportedly punched several pieces of glass with his bare hands which resulted in the injuries to his hand/arm.

Fletcher was eventually taken into custody and transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of his wounds.

He was taken into custody by the Rhode Island State Police due to the fact that he was in their jurisdiction for medical attention.  The Fall River Police will be seeking extradition as a fugitive from justice.
