34-year-old man sentenced in Fall River court after sexually assaulting partner’s child over 4-year span
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 34-year-old New Bedford man was convicted on Thursday after a jury trial in the Fall River Superior Court of two counts Aggravated Rape of Child with a 5-year age Difference, Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under Fourteen and Assault to Rape.
Marc Ribeiro was sentenced by the Court on the same day and will serve a State Prison sentence of 18 to 20 years, followed by 5 years of probation.
This case stems from conduct of Ribeiro between July of 2015 and July of 2019 against a young child who he had access to through a dating relationship. On various dates between July 2015 and July 2019 the defendant sexually assaulted and raped the victim who was a child at the time. In 2023, after a lesson in health class regarding child abuse, the victim disclosed to her health teacher the previous abuse that she had endured.
“This highlights the importance of these educational programs in our local school systems and the role of mandated reporters. ”
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Czapiga and Silvia Rudman.
“The defendant took advantage of his access to this young victim and repeatedly raped and abused her between the ages of five and seven. This conduct committed against a very young and innocent victim is repulsive and warrants a lengthy prison sentence. I commend the victim for her perseverance during this very difficult ordeal,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
