34-year-old man held without bail in fatal Plymouth County shooting that left 29-year-old dead
BROCKTON – A man has been held without bail after his arraignment on a murder charge in the shooting of a Rockland man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and Rockland Police Chief Nicholas P. Zeoli have announced.
On Monday, 34-year-old Kevin Denis pleaded not guilty to one count of Murder at his arraignment in Hingham District Court. Denis was held without bail.
The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on November 11th, when Rockland Police received a 911 call reporting gunshots near 75 Deering Square. Responding officers and medical personnel found a 29-year-old man inside a parked vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim was identified as Darnel Andre of Rockland.
Rockland Police enlisted the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office to lead the investigation. Detectives conducted interviews, during which witnesses described seeing a thin male in dark clothing fleeing the scene. The Massachusetts State Police Airwing and a drone were deployed for a ground and air search. Through the ongoing probe, detectives developed probable cause against Denis, securing the arrest warrant.
Denis is scheduled for arraignment on the murder charge in Hingham District Court on Monday. The case was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Rockland Police.
