32-year-old New Bedford woman who was murdered remembered as strong, helpful, with pure heart
Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide which occurred Tuesday evening in New Bedford.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 6:20 p.m., New Bedford Police and EMS responded to 438 Bolton Street in New Bedford for a report of a bloody female lying in the first-floor hallway.
Upon arrival police located 32- year-old Karina Martinez-Ortiz lying on the floor in front of her first-floor apartment. Martina-Ortiz had obvious injuries and life saving measures were taken as she was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. Martina-Ortiz suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at St. Luke’s Hospital.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Karina was being remembered as “a strong, warrior, brave and resilient woman. She was also a humble, helpful person, with a pure heart and full of love for all of us who knew her. She leaves us a legacy of charisma, love, forgiveness and being strong in the face of adversity.”
The investigation into her death is extremely active.
