31-year-old Providence man dies from apparent drowning at local pond; second one this week

A local man is dead after an apparent drowning this week.

According to police, on Thursday at 9:15 p.m., members of the Smithfield Police Department were called to Georgiaville Beach located at 20 Stillwater Road, Smithfield, RI for a report of a missing person. 

Police learned from the reporting party that he had not seen his friend in several hours. When he had last seen his friend he was in the water near the beach on Georgiaville Pond. 

Members of the Smithfield Fire Department arrived along with mutual aid from neighboring communities. They were assisted in the search by the Smithfield Emergency Management Agency and the Smithfield Police Department Aerial Response Team (Drone). 

At approximately 9:55 p.m., emergency personnel located the body of a man in the water. Tragically, once brought to shore the man was pronounced deceased. This individual was confirmed to be the same male that had been reported missing. 

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Timmy Mouch from the City of Providence, RI. 

Those who knew Mouch were remembering the memories and fun times while coming to grip with his tragic and sudden passing.

A 21-year-old Providence man drowned in a local park this week.

This matter is being investigated as an accidental drowning. The cause and other any contributing factors, remain under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Smithfield Police.
