Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 31-year-old man pled guilty in the Fall River Superior Court to Trafficking in Fentanyl over 36 grams.

Davonta Davis of Fall River was sentenced to serve a State Prison Sentence of four to six years.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charles Schofield.

On January 30, 2025, an undercover Massachusetts State Trooper was in contact with Davis and arranged to purchase 100 grams of fentanyl from the defendant on that date.  Davis arrived at a motel in Somerset at the pre-arranged time.  Upon seeing the Trooper’s badge, which was displayed, he fled on foot and attempted to discard a large bag of white powder.  During his flight, Davis fell and was apprehended approximately 10 to 15 feet from the bag of white powder.  The bag was seized and tested.  The substance was identified as Fentanyl and the weight was 97.8 grams.

“I am pleased that the efforts of the investigation lead to the arrest and conviction of the defendant for possessing a large amount of fentanyl with the intent to sell.,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
