3 charged in Rhode Island area drug distribution near school

Four men have been arrested concerning a local drug distribution organization.

According to police, on Friday, the Pawtucket Police Department’s Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the Rhode Island State Police Tactical Team (RISP-TT), and members of the Pawtucket Police K9 Unit, executed court-ordered search warrants on East Street in the city of Pawtucket after a narcotics investigation involving the distribution of cocaine throughout the City of Pawtucket and surrounding communities and also located in very close proximity to a child day care center.

As a result of the search warrants, detectives located and seized a .45 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number and a laser pointer, an extended 25 round magazine, several boxes of ammunition to include small caliber rounds to shotgun shells, approximately $2400, approximately 2.4 ounces of suspected cocaine, digital scales, cutting agents, packaging material, a kilo press, and numerous cellphones.

Based on the investigation, the following are charged with:

CARLOS DEPINA JR. (age 27)
1. Manufacturing/Possession/Deliver Cocaine 1oz-1kg
2. Possession with intent to deliver Schedule I/II (Cocaine)
3. Maintaining a common nuisance
4. Distribution or manufacturing controlled substance in/near school
5. Conspiracy

MASON DEPINA (age 25)
1. Manufacturing/Possession/Deliver Cocaine loz-1kg
2. Possession with intent to deliver Schedule I/II (Cocaine)
3. Maintaining a common nuisance
4. Distribution or manufacturing controlled substance in/near school
5. Conspiracy

EBRIMA JATTA (age 26)
1. Manufacturing/Possession/Deliver Cocaine 1oz-1kg
2. Possession with intent to deliver Schedule I/II (Cocaine) 3. Maintaining a common nuisance
4. Distribution or manufacturing controlled substance in/near school
5. Conspiracy
6. Possession of a stolen motor vehicle

JOVON DEPINA (age 26)
1. Maintaining a common nuisance
2. Failure to Appear Superior Court Warrant from previous Possession with intent to deliver charge

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges and suspects will be added, according to police.
