3 charged after at least 9 people sent to the hospital after multi-vehicle collisions on Route 95 leads to numerous people fighting, walking on the highway

Troopers released an August update after multiple highway crashes within seconds of each other resulted in over a half dozen injuries on July 5th.

According to Rhode Island State Police, at just before 5:30 a.m., Troopers responded to a multi-car motor vehicle crash on Route 95 South at the Broadway overpass in Pawtucket.

One passenger was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for serious but non life-threatening injuries, and two additional parties were transported for minor complaints of pain.

Two subsequent crashes followed, and six additional people were transported for minor injuries or minor complaints of pain. Troopers are investigating whether additional parties transported themselves to area hospitals.

Prior to Troopers’ arrival, there were reports of numerous people fighting and walking around on both sides of Route 95. 

As a result of the subsequent investigation, the following arrests have been made:

Leonardo J. Brito, age 23, of Pawtucket has been charged with Reckless Driving – First Offense.

Preston K. Guertin, age 20, of Pawtucket has been charged with Disorderly Conduct.

Marcus D, Robinson, age 20, of West Warwick has been charged with Disorderly Conduct.

The incident remains under investigation and additional arrests are expected.
