29-year-old Tiverton woman pronounced dead at Fall River hospital after motorcycle crash
A local woman has died from injuries sustained in a weekend collision.
According to police, on Saturday, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Little Compton Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles in the area of 42 Simmons Road.
When Police and Fire personnel arrived on scene, they found what appeared to be a head on collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were at rest in the eastbound lane of Simmons Road. The female operator of the motorcycle had sustained serious injuries and was immediately treated by rescue personnel. The operator of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.
Little Compton rescue personnel transported the motorcycle operator to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River MA. where she was later pronounced deceased. The operator of the motorcycle has been identified as Tammy Boutilier, 29, of Tiverton.
Initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Simmons Road and at some point, lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes striking the front of the passenger vehicle that had been traveling eastbound.
Simmons Road remained closed in both directions for approximately three hours while members of the Little Compton Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the collision.
The members of the Little Compton Public Safety Complex and the Little Compton community extended their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Tammy Boutilier.
