28-year-old dead, 25-year-old injured in Rhode Island double shooting

One is dead and another is injured after an afternoon shooting

According to police, on Monday at approximately 2:30 pm, Pawtucket Police responded to 54 Arch Street for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers came upon a 28-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Also on scene, a 25-year-old woman was discovered bleeding with an unspecified injury but was later determined to also have been shot.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital. The male victim sadly, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The woman is recovering and is in stable condition.

37-year-old Eric Peterson of 54 Arch Street first floor will be charged in 6th District court this
morning on the following charges:

Murder in the 1st degree
(3) Counts of using a firearm while committing a crime of violence.
(2) Counts of felony assault.
Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Carry a pistol without a license.

The Pawtucket Police thanked the RI Attorney General’s office with their assistance
with this investigation, which remains ongoing. This appears to have been an isolated incident
regarding the first floor tenant and second floor family of that address.
