27-year-old Fall River man charged in fatal crash that killed Taunton’s Mallory Humphreys
A 27-year-old Fall River man has been charged in connection with the September 15th crash on Route 44 in Taunton that claimed the life of Mallory Humphreys, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Andrew Sousa has been charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide while Operating under the Influence and Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence. He was arraigned Friday in Taunton District Court before Judge Kelley who set bail in the amount of $5,000 and imposed conditions of release. Those conditions include abstaining from alcohol with random screens, not to operate a motor vehicle and weekly reporting to the probation department. The next court date is November 15th.
On September 15th at just before 1:30 a.m., Sousa was driving a gray 2015 Infiniti eastbound in the area of 608 Winthrop Street when it rear-ended a tractor trailer that was also being driven eastbound. 24-year-old Mallory Humphreys of Taunton was in the passenger seat of the car Sousa was driving and died as a result of the crash.
The criminal charges in the case come after an extensive investigation by prosecutors and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to District Attorney Quinn’s office into the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash.
