A motorcyclist has died from injuries he sustained in an early Saturday morning crash on Cape Cod.
According to police, officers arrived on Route 28 near the Parker’s River Bridge in West Yarmouth to find the 25-year-old motorcycle operator on the ground suffering from serious injuries. The motorcycle was found nearby in bushes on the roadside.
Members of the Yarmouth Fire Department performed life saving measures before transporting the operator to Cape Cod Gateway Airport where Boston MedFlight transported the patient to a Rhode Island Hospital.
The roadway had recently been reduced to one lane due to on-going construction and used a portable traffic signal to control two-way traffic.
Preliminary investigation determined the motorcycle was traveling West on Route 28, failed to stop at the red traffic light, and collided with a jersey barrier positioned in the work zone. The operator was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the crash.
Investigators also determined that the operator was riding without a valid driver’s license.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Tanner Dennery of Sandwich “was a light in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was known for his humor, his unwavering strength, and his remarkable resilience. To know Tanner was to love him.”
Yarmouth Police Crash Reconstruction is investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 508-775-0445.
