BROCKTON – A woman whose body was found in Long Pond in Lakeville is being remembered.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, at approximately 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Freetown police received a 911 call from a person who stated that they had been boating on Long Pond in Lakeville and saw people riding on two jet skis. The caller reported that they saw a jet ski with two female riders tip over, and one of the riders did not resurface from the water.

Massachusetts State Police, Lakeville Police, Freetown Police and the Environmental Police responded to the scene and could not locate the victim.

At approximately 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, the body of the victim was located by the SEMLEC Marine Unit, roughly 125 yards from shore in five feet of water.

The female was identified as 25-year-old Daisha Murphy of Brockton.

Murphy was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Daisha was a “young mother whose daughter meant absolutely everything to her. She was the sole provider and protector of her little girl, and every decision she made was rooted in love for her child. Daisha was a loving daughter, sister, and an incredible mother. She was also just beginning to thrive in her career in healthcare, working as a phlebotomist, with so much life, purpose, and potential ahead of her.”

Funeral services are entrusted to George Lopes Funeral Home, located at 647 Main Street, Brockton, Massachusetts, with services to be held on July 10, 2026.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
