23-year-old Massachusetts mother engaged to be married killed in pedestrian collision

A pedestrian in Massachusetts struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night has been identified, authorities have announced.
23-year-old Erika Newvill of Haverhill was hit in Methuen at approximately 7:10 p.m., the Office of the Essex County District Attorney confirms.
The operator of a 2014 Honda CRV was traveling on Merrimack Street (Route 110) when their vehicle hit Newvill in the area of 301 Merrimack Street.
The Methuen Police Department responded to the scene and Newvill was transported to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Newvill was engaged to be married and had 4 children. A vigil in her honor was held Wednesday and the big turnout was a testament to the person Newvill was and how much she will be missed.
The Methuen Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating the incident. Poor lighting may have been a factor.
