The man suspected of fatally shooting two teenagers in Brockton has pleaded not guilty to the homicides, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Acting U.S. Marshal Dennis Matulewicz for the District of Massachusetts, and Brockton Police Chief Brenda Perez announced.

Davinci Leonard, now 23, was wanted for the double homicide before his arrest on February 12th in Mexico. Today, he appeared in Brockton Superior Court and entered not guilty pleas to two counts of murder, as well as one count each of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and carrying ammunition without an FID card. He was ordered held without bail. Leonard is accused of killing 15-year-old Tymari Albertson and 18-year-old Cevannah Alvarez.

The shootings occurred on March 22, 2025, at approximately 7:04 p.m., when Brockton Police received a 911 call reporting gunfire outside the Chipotle at 500 Westgate Drive. First responders found two victims—a male and a female—suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. The male victim, identified as Albertson, was pronounced deceased at the hospital after being shot in the face and torso. The female victim, identified as Alvarez, was medflighted to Massachusetts General Hospital but later succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest.

Leonard fled the scene immediately after the incident. Authorities launched an extensive investigation involving the Massachusetts State Police, the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, and Brockton Police. The probe included numerous witness interviews, review of video surveillance footage, and a thorough canvass of the area. As a result, police obtained an arrest warrant for Leonard, and the Commonwealth Fusion Center distributed a BOLO bulletin to law enforcement agencies across the region.

On February 12, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m. PT, the U.S. Marshals of the Southern District of California Mexico Investigative Liaison team, working with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force, coordinated with Mexico’s Fuerza Estatal de Seguridad Ciudadana (FESC) to apprehend Leonard. He was expelled back to the United States, taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, and transported to Massachusetts for arraignment.

Two other individuals—David Mosley-Lott, 32, of Quincy, and Jaylen Speed, 25, of Dorchester—have been indicted in connection with the double homicide for allegedly helping Leonard evade justice. Mosley-Lott faces one count each of accessory after the fact and intimidation of a witness, while Speed faces one count of accessory after the fact.

Leonard is next scheduled to appear in court on May 13.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Kelly Waldo.
