A young local man died late last week doing what he loved.

According to an obituary, 22-year-old Hunter Sande passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Johnston on Friday morning.

The community is mourning his loss, describing Sande as a vibrant individual with a passion for motorcycles, a skilled mechanic, and a kind-hearted person known for his infectious smile and generosity.

“Hunter had a great love for the outdoors—he enjoyed fishing, snowboarding, ATV riding, and hiking. He also had a passion for sports cars and spent much of his free time modifying his own. He dreamed of one day opening his own custom auto body shop.”

As a high school senior, Sande raised money for Christmas presents for children in foster care, according to the Valley Breeze.

Details of the crash have not been released yet by authorities.

The fatality is at least the third motorcycle death in southern New England in a week.

Relatives and friends are invited to Hunter’s Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, with Visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will follow at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Adoption RI, 290 W Exchange Street, Suite 100, Providence, RI 02903.
