22-year-old Fall River man sentenced to prison after repeatedly assaulting girls after being released
A 22-year-old Fall River man who groomed and sexually assaulted three separate girls ranging from age 12 to 15 was sentenced recently to state prison, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Emmanuel Adeniyi pled guilty in Fall River Superior Court on November 8th to six counts of rape of a child and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. He was sentenced to serve 10 to 15 years.
In the autumn of 2020, Adeniyi began communicating with his ex-girlfriend’s 12-year-old cousin over Snapchat. Adeniyi arranged to meet up with her, picked her up in his car, and brought her to his apartment. Once at his apartment, Adeniyi molested and raped the girl. Despite being found dangerous and initially being held without bail by a Fall River District Court judge, Adeniyi was eventually released by a Superior Court judge during an appeal of the district court judge’s dangerousness finding. While on release, Adeniyi then committed his next offense.
In April of 2021, Adeniyi met a 15-year-old girl in a park in Fall River and began to Snapchat with her. Adeniyi lied about his age to this victim, telling her he was only 17. He eventually raped the girl twice. When the victim learned of Adeniyi’s true age, she disclosed the abuse to police. At his Fall River District Court arraignment, prosecutors moved to revoke his bail on the previous case and have him held without bail, but a Fall River District Court judge denied that request and set bail at $5,000 in the case, which Adeniyi posted. After posting bail, he committed yet another rape of a child.
In November of 2021, the mother of a 14-year-old girl reported to police that the victim had sex with Adeniyi. During an interview of this victim, she told investigators that Adeniyi lied about his age and told her he was only 16.
In addition to the state prison sentence, Judge Raffi Yessayan also ordered that Adeniyi be placed on supervised probation for an additional five years. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gillian Kirsch.
“The defendant repeatedly had sex with underage girls and enticed them by misrepresenting his age. Unfortunately the court did not revoke his bail after being arrested for committing the same crimes. The sentence is appropriate to protect young victims from the defendant,” District Attorney Quinn said.
