A young local man killed in a crash over the weekend is being remembered.

According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III, Dartmouth Police and EMS were dispatched to the area of 899 Old Fall River Road shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, police located a green Toyota Corolla facing westbound on the eastbound side of the roadway off in the woods.  The vehicle had struck a tree and sustained severe damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

The operator, a 23-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  Police and EMS located an unresponsive male in the passenger seat of the vehicle suffering from severe injuries.  The passenger, identified as 22-year-old Christopher Canario of Dartmouth, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Canario “was a kind person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a way of making people laugh and lifting spirits. His kindness was genuine, and he would always go the extra mile to help anyone in need. Whether you knew him for years or only crossed paths with him briefly, you remembered Chris because of his compassion, warmth, and positivity.”

The investigation into this matter is ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Dartmouth Police Department.
