21-year-old Cape Cod man charged in hit and run pedestrian collision at restaurant parking lot

BARNSTABLE — The Barnstable Police Department reports that officers arrested and charged a man on several charges following a hit-and-run Sunday afternoon in which two pedestrians were injured.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., Barnstable Police were dispatched to the parking area of the Tiki Port restaurant on Route 132 in Hyannis for reports of a hit-and-run involving multiple pedestrians.
Upon arrival at the scene, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Fire and Rescue personnel began treating two injured females.
One of the females was transported by ambulance to a local airport and was later transported via medical helicopter to a Rhode Island Level 1 Trauma Center for treatment of injuries believed to be severe.
The second female suffered injuries believed to be minor and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.
Officers were able to identify the vehicle, a white pick-up truck, during their initial investigation. During a subsequent investigation, officers located the truck and conducted a traffic stop.
21-year-old Maxwell Dean of Yarmouthport was arrested without incident.
He was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (two counts), Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating with a Suspended License, Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Attaching Wrong Motor Vehicle Plates to Conceal Identity.
Dean is currently held at the Barnstable Police Department on $20,000 bail and will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday March 24.
The incident will continue to be investigated by the Barnstable Police Department’s Traffic and Detective Units.
