20-year-old man pleads not guilty after police seize ammo, stolen Fall River gun
A local man is facing charges after the reported recovery oof a stolen firearm by authorities.
According to the police union, on Tuesday, members of the New Bedford Police Violent Crime Intelligence Unit conducted a motor vehicle stop, at which time a firearm was recovered. Detectives received information that a male was in possession of a firearm.
The male suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Tyler Dubois, was located while operating a motor vehicle within the city of New Bedford. Dubois was subsequently stopped for civil motor vehicle infractions, at which point in time he was removed from the vehicle after exhibiting extremely nervous behavior.
A search of Dubois’s person was conducted, at which time detectives located a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield, 9mm firearm, with 7 rounds of ammunition. The firearm was also found to have been stolen out of Fall River.
Detective Jonathan Miranda was the arresting officer.
According to court records, at arraignment on Wednesday, Dubois pled not guilty and was being held with a pretrial hearing scheduled for March 11th.
