2-year-old girl suffers life-threatening injuries in Massachusetts pedestrian collision

LOWELL — Superintendent Greg Hudon reports that the Lowell Police Department responded Thursday to a crash involving a child pedestrian. 

At approximately 4:00 p.m., Lowell Police responded to the intersection of West Third and Coburn streets for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2-year-old girl with serious injuries lying in the street. The child was transported to a Boston area hospital for treatment of injuries that appear to be life-threatening.

The operator of the motor vehicle that struck the child remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.

The crash is being investigated by the Lowell Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
