2 dead, 3 others injured in rollover crash on Interstate 195 in New Bedford
Police are investigating a fatal highway crash that took place Friday morning.
According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Troopers from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 195 East in the City of New Bedford near exit 24A.
Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle carrying 5 individuals rolled over. 2 of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of their injuries and 3 others were transported to a local hospital.
For the safety of motorists and investigators, the middle and right lanes were closed during the on-scene investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bristol County Detective Unit as well as the State Police’s Crime Scene Services Section and Collison Accident Reconstruction Services.
