2 adults, 4 children injured in three car crash on Route 6
6 people were injured after a serious crash in Rehoboth on Tuesday.
According to Sgt. James M. Casey, at approximately 5:16 p.m., Ptlm. Nicholas Miranda and Ptlm. Jacob Miranda responded to Fall River Ave. (Route 6) in the area of Barney Avenue for a motor vehicle crash.
When Ptlm. N. Miranda and Ptlm. J. Miranda arrived on scene, they observed three motor vehicles that had sustained heavy damage taking up the entire westbound lane of travel of Route 6.
Upon approaching the three vehicles, Ptlm. N. Miranda and Ptlm. J. Miranda found injuries to multiple occupants of the vehicles. They triaged the injuries until members of the Rehoboth Fire Department as well as members of the Rehoboth Ambulance arrived on scene. During the triage process it was determined that there were no life-threatening injuries.
It was determined that mutual aid from Seekonk, Swansea, Warren and Barrington was required to transport the injured.
When EMS arrived, Ptlm. Miranda was able to conduct an investigation. His investigation determined that one of the vehicle’s (vehicle 1) was traveling north on Old Providence Road while the other two were traveling east (vehicle 2) and west (vehicle 3) on Route 6. Vehicle 1 failed to yield to vehicle 2. As a result, both vehicles collided. This caused vehicle 1 to spin and collide with vehicle 3.
In all, six people were transported to the hospital. Two of the six were adults and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital and four juveniles were transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
