19-year-old seriously injured after shooting in Taunton

TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is investigating a shooting.

Taunton Police and Fire responded at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to 450 Somerset Avenue for a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, first responders located a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported by Brewster Ambulance to a trauma center with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Detective Division, with assistance being provided by the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, in its early stages.
