Police have arrested a Rehoboth man Sunday on child rape charges.

According to Sgt. James Casey, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers from the Rehoboth Police Department responded to 2 Roberts Road in attempt to locate 19-year-old Trevor Breckenridge of 2 Roberts Road, Rehoboth.

Earlier in the day an arrest warrant for Breckenridge was issued in relation to a rape of a child under the age of 16 by force. The incident in question occurred the day before at a residence located in the south end of Rehoboth.

Following the issuance of the arrest warrant, officers spent the day attempting to locate Breckenridge. Just prior to responding to 2 Roberts Road, the Rehoboth Police Department received a tip that Breckenridge was at 2 Roberts Road. When officers arrived he was located in his bedroom, according to police.

Breckenridge was taken into custody without incident by Ptlm. Mark Wetherell. He was then transported to the Rehoboth Police Station where he was booked.

Breckenridge’s bail was set at $10,040.00 and he was transported to the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department located on Ash Street in New Bedford.

Breckenridge will be arraigned at a later date on a charge of rape of a child under 16 by force.
