18-year-old woman dead after colliding with Amtrak train in Rhode Island
A woman is dead after an incident Saturday on Rhode Island train tracks.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., Cranston Fire reported to tracks off of Wellington Avenue for a person struck by an Amtrak train.
Multiple reports state that an 18-year-old female was deceased from the collision near the Cranston/Warwick line.
Fall River Reporter contacted Colonel Michael J. Winquist, Chief of the Cranston Police Department, and he stated that the incident happened in Warwick. Warwick PD was contacted for additional details, and we have not yet heard back.
Train travel between Boston, Massachusetts and Kingston, Rhode Island was impacted for several hours.
The incident is under investigation.
