18-year-old killed from injuries sustained in afternoon shooting in Fall River
An 18-year-old has died from injuries sustained in an afternoon shooting in Fall River.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Fall River Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide which occurred this afternoon in Fall River.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., Fall River Police were dispatched to the area of 253 Locust Street for a report of a male gunshot victim.
When first responders arrived, they located the victim, later identified as Jovanni Perez, 18, of Fall River and East Weymouth. He was rushed to Charlton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:41 p.m.
Several shell casings were found at the scene.
Although no suspect is in custody at this moment, Miliotte stated that the investigation is extremely active.

Wasn’t there a shooting incident in that exact location a week or two ago? Why wasn’t the police presence beefed up?
At any rate I’m sure her kids will miss her and she was a great person who was just starting to get her life together.
