18-year-old granted bail in Fall River Superior Court after Fall River, Taunton, Massachusetts State Police combine to seize gun, marijuana, cash
A local man was arraigned Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court after multiple jurisdictions in Bristol County combined to make an arrest and seize a firearm, drugs, and cash.
According to police, Fall River C.A.S.T. detectives discovered that 18-year-old Jaymeson Andre Freitas was illegally in possession of a firearm and distributing controlled substances in the Fall River and Taunton area. After learning that Freitas resides in Taunton, detectives, with the support of the Taunton Police Department and the Bristol County Mass State Police Detective Unit, applied for and were granted a search warrant for his Taunton address.
With assistance from the Fall River Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit, the search warrant was executed without incident.
As a result of the search, officers seized a Canik 9mm firearm, a large capacity 50-round drum magazine, approximately 2.7 pounds of marijuana, ammunition, and approximately $6,700 in cash. Freitas, who does not possess an LTC or FID as he is ineligible, was taken into custody without incident and booked by the Massachusetts State Police at the Middleboro Barracks.
According to court records. Freitas pled not guilty and was held without bail in Fall River District Court.
The case was then moved to Fall River Superior Court where he was granted $50,000 surety/$5,000 cash bail Wednesday with a pre-trial conference scheduled for June 4th.
