18-year-old from RI charged with murder, held without bail, after deadly shooting
A teenager has been arrested concerning a murder that took place earlier this year.
According to Pawtucket Police, on January 30th, the Pawtucket Police Major Crime Unit Detectives began an investigation into the shooting death of 28-year-old Jovani Velez of Cumberland that occurred on Carnation Street.
On April 21st, after an extensive investigation, and with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office, an arrest warrant was obtained for 18-year-old Elijah Soto of Cato Ave, Pawtucket, RI, for his involvement in the homicide.
On May 2nd, Soto was brought into Providence District Court and arraigned on the charges of Murder-1st Degree, Conspiracy, Discharge of a Firearm While Committing a Crime of Violence, and Carrying Pistol or Revolver without a License.
Soto was held without bail and remanded to the Adult Correctional Institute.
