18-year-old dead after an apparent drowning at pond on Cape Cod
A teen is dead after an afternoon drowning at a Cape Cod pond.
According to police, on Monday, at just after 5:45 p.m., the Falmouth Police Department and the Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department responded to Jenkins Pond for a reported drowning.
Responders arrived and learned two individuals were paddle-boarding when one fell off and entered the water.
Falmouth Fire and Rescue deployed a boat, extracted the victim from the water, and immediately began life-saving measures.
The victim, an 18-year-old male from Connecticut, was transported to Falmouth Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Both Falmouth Marine and Environmental Services and the Massachusetts State Environmental Police responded to assist. Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office responded and took jurisdiction of the investigation.
