17-year-old Westport teen breaking records and winning gold medals
A Westport teen is making waves in the pool both locally and nationally.
17-year-old Brandon Medeiros, a Westport senior, the son of Erika and Josh Medeiros, and the grandson of Beverly and Eugene Frezza, won two gold medals at the Olympic-style event Games of America in San Diego, California late last month for both long and short course breaststroke swim.
Medeiros, who swims out of the New Bedford YMCA, also broke the YMCA record for the short course which was set in 2010.
The high schooler qualified for Games of America by winning the State of Massachusetts gold medal for the short course breaststroke.
Medeiros’ dream is to become the best swimmer he is capable of through discipline and hard work, and he is well on his way.
