17-year-old ejected from vehicle in Plymouth County roll over crash
A driver was injured after being ejected during a roll over car crash in Plymouth County this week.
According to Lt. Steven Dearth, on Wednesday just after 8:15 p.m., Officers responded to a crash on George Washington Blvd. in front of the Hingham District Courthouse.
Officers found a vehicle, a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, on its roof with the driver lying on the road.
An investigation showed the Hyundai was traveling north on George Washington Blvd. at a high rate of speed when it abruptly swerved over the center line into the oncoming lanes. It continued across the two oncoming southbound lanes, over the sidewalk, off the road into a large rock and trees. It then rolled over, landing back in the southbound lanes.
The driver was alone, and no other cars were involved.
The driver, a 17-year-old female, was transported to South Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
She was issued a citation for Negligent Operation, Marked Lanes Violation, Speeding, and a Seat Belt Violation.
The driver was not wearing her seat belt. The driver’s seat belt had been in the latched position behind the driver’s seat. Dearth stated that this is sometimes done to avoid the seat belt warning system when the seat belt is not used.
