14-year-old Wareham bicycle rider dies from injuries sustained in crash with motor vehicle
BROCKTON – A Wareham teen who was struck by a motor vehicle while out riding his bike has died, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
On April 18th at approximately 8:15 p.m., Wareham Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle versus bicycle crash with serious personal injury at the intersection of Sandwich Road and Narrows Road. The male victim, later identified as 14-year-old Tobey Alford, was transported to Tobey Hospital with a head injury. Alford was medflighted into Children’s Hospital for treatment and was pronounced deceased there Monday.
The female operator of the motor vehicle, a Chevrolet Blazer, was cooperative with police on scene. She was not identified by officials.
Wareham Police, Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, MSP Collision and Analysis Reconstruction Section, and MSP Crime Scene Services Section are investigating.
