14-year-old Connecticut teen dies from injuries sustained in dirt bike collision
A southern New England teen was killed over the weekend in a dirt bike collision, authorities say.
According to State Police, Erik Brooker, a 14-year-old resident of Hebron, Connecticut, died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle dirt bike crash on Sunday.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Burnt Hill Road near its intersection with Cone Road in Hebron. State police stated that Brooker was riding a Honda CRF 150 dirt bike westbound when he lost control while attempting to navigate an “S” curve in the road.
The bike veered off the roadway, striking a rocky embankment, which ejected Brooker from the vehicle.
He sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported by Hebron EMS to Marlborough Middlesex Clinic, where he was later pronounced dead.
No other vehicles were involved, and the crash remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Serious Accident Reconstruction Team (SART), Troop K.
Brooker was a freshman at RHAM High School in Hebron, and the school district has provided counseling services and therapy dogs to support students and staff in the wake of the tragedy.
According to a fundraiser, Brooker was a loving son, a protective big brother, and a joyful presence in the lives of everyone who knew him.
“His sudden passing has left a deep void in our hearts.”
